The Swartz Creek High School will hold a pep rally during sixth hour on Sept. 21 in anticipation of the big football game that night that will see Swartz Creek take on Bay City John Glen.

“It’s going to be loud because we are all going to be crammed in the gym,” saiid Katie Cummings, the vice president of the Swartz Creek High School student council.

“It’s going to be loud, and everyone is going to be excited and have high energy,” said Emily Roberts, the president of the Swartz Creek High School student council.

The annual Homecoming Parade will begin at 4:45 p.m. on Sept. 21.

The parade will start at the Sports Creek Raceway then head eastbound on Civic Drive to Fortino, where it will continue eastbound to Morrish. The parade will continue southbound on Morrish to Miller Road, where it will then head westbound to Fairchild. The parade will then travel southbound on Fairchild and conclude in the Swartz Creek Middle School parking lot.

The parade will be lead by Swartz Creek High School teachers Frederick Fuller and Lori Anthony. Swartz Creek teams participating in the parade include the Varsity Girls Swim Team, Middle School Basketball, youth football teams, Varsity Cheer and Junior Varsity Pom.

Further, each high school class decorated a float with a movie theme for the parade, with the senior class theme being Hollywood, the junior class theme being horror, the sophomore class theme being WALL-E and the freshman theme being western movies.

Local businesses partaking in the parade include Swartz Creek Karate, Custom Lawn Care, Cindee’s Dance, Spooky Trails Farm, Mongolian Barbecue, Perrault Insurance Agency and Global Financial Services.

The Central Church of the Nazarene and Hillcrest Church will also participate in the parade.

The Junior Class Tailgate Dinner will be held on September 21 from 3:30-6:30 p.m. at the high school cafeteria to raise money for the Swartz Creek High School junior class. The dinner will feature sandwiches, cookies and water, and it is open to the public. The price is $5 at the door.

The September 21 homecoming events conclude with the football game against Bay City John Glen at 7 p.m.

“Everyone’s really excited about the football team,” Roberts said.

The Swartz Creek High School Homecoming Dance will be held on Sept. 22 at the high school gymnasium. The movie theme continues at the Homecoming Dance as the gymnasium will feature decorations emphasizing the same four themes as the class parade floats.

The senior class homecoming princesses this year are Lauren Adas, Kasey Dollinger, Sarah Hynes and Morgan Storer.
