The group performed a traditional drum solo piece to the song, “Solo Gamalat” by Gamal Goma, said troupe director Brenda Bennett, also known as Aiyana Opus.

Sabba Zimora is a group of costumed dancers who perform “both exciting and expressive routines utilizing belly dance, fusion dance, modern dance and burlesque,” said Bennett.

“Some performers even make use of fun props such as veil, swords, fan veils, Isis wings, finger cymbals and fire/LED props such as candles, and spinning poi.”

One member of the group, Amy Jean, also took first place in the Student Solo category, and Bennett earned second place for an impromptu, freestyle interpretation.

When they’re not competing, the group performs at special events, wedding receptions, corporate meetings, club and charity events and health fairs.
