SWARTZ CREEK – The Swartz Creek Area Senior Citizen Center will host its annual health fair from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, Oct. 16.

Admission is free and the public is welcome.

This year’s theme is “A Healthy Rainbow for Good Nutrition.”

Visitors may sample some colorful fruit and vegetable dishes and learn about the benefits of including a “rainbow” in their diets.

Vendors will provide information on a variety of services for seniors and their families.

Kroger Pharmacy will offer flu shots for $28 cash. Shots may be billed to insurance if eligible.

A highlight of every health fair is the recipe contest.

Seniors age 50 and older are eligible to enter by submitting an entry form, available at the center, along with their recipes no later than Oct. 10.

Healthy recipes will be accepted in three categories: fruits, vegetables and combination of fruits and vegetables.

Each entrant must bring a large dish prepared from the recipe to the center no later than 10 a.m. on the morning of the Health Fair for judging, which begins at 11:30 a.m.

Prizes will be awarded.
