Fire Department open house

SWARTZ CREEK, CLAYTON TOWNSHIP – The Swartz Creek Area Fire Department will host open houses at both fire stations from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5. Meet firefighters, check out the fire apparatus and try on the gear. Safety information available. – L.R.

Historical Society program

SWARTZ CREEK – The Swartz Creek Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, at City Hall. The guest speaker will be Darren Bagley of the Michigan State University Extension office in Genesee County. – L.R.

Horse program at library

SWARTZ CREEK – The Perkins Library will host an outdoor program featuring cowboy lore, horse facts and a miniature horse named Raggs, from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 11. To register, call 810-635-3900. – L.R.

PAWS fundraiser

CLAYTON TOWNSHIP – A fundraiser for Pets Are Worth Saving will take place from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, at 2295 Seymour Road. Hay rides, pony rides, pumpkin and face painting, hot cider and doughnuts, hot dogs and chips, a bake sale, raffles, drawings, cake and pie auctions, live music, and puppy, cat and dog adoptions. Admission is $5. Bring lawn chairs for the concert. – L.R.
