Art appreciation

Courtesy photo Courtesy photo Swartz Creek High School art students had the opportunity to participate in a field trip to the Detroit Institute of Arts on Friday, April 24. The 53 seats available filled quickly, according to art teacher Meagan Kubu. Students were taken on a guided tour called the Identity Tour and saw works of art made by people from South, Central and North America. Then, the students enjoyed a full hour of wandering through the galleries to appreciate art on their own. Favorite works included the medieval armor, Van Gogh’s paintings and of course, Diego Rivera’s murals. The trip was supported by a grant that Kubu received from Michigan Youth Arts and the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs.
