Dragon boys place eighth, girls 10th at regionals

Photo by Mike McPherson BAY CITY – The Swartz Creek boys’ cross country team finished in eighth place at Saturday’s regional at Delta College with 163 and the girls came in 10th with 290. The top three teams and top 15 individuals not on a qualifying team move on to the state meet. Caden Pifer qualified by placing fifth in 16:18.19.

Mark Crandell was 21st in 17:16.02, Evan Taylor was 42nd in 17:50.61, Bradley Gilson was 43rd in 17:53.27, Ryan Gentry was 52nd in 18:15.46, Logan Willyerd was 67th in 18:51.80 and Cameron Smith was 76th in 19:44.24.

Darbey Johnson led the girls in 30th in 21:06.11, Lily Majestic was 55th in 22:02.95, Sarah Cook was 60th in 22:17.55, Brittany Devore was 61st in 22:25.11, Shannon McAuliffe was 84th in 25:15.23, Madeline McDonald was 85th in 25:22.99 and Samantha Thelen was 87th in 26:51.77. – B.P.
