Softball team earns two wins at Lake Orion tournament

Photo by Todd Boone LAKE ORION – Pitcher Rachel Mackey picked up two wins and swallowed one loss at the Lake Orion tournament on Saturday, losing to Oxford in game one, but winning against Goodrich in game two and Waterford Mott in game three.

In their first game of the day against Oxford, Creek was shut out, 9-0, in the time-limited five inning affair. Shortstop Allison Dusseau had Creek’s only hit of the game. Mackey threw two innings giving up seven hits and striking out four.

In the second game against Goodrich, Creek came out on top 6-5 on time limit. Mackey pitched the final two innings with no hits and five strikeouts to pick up the win. Second baseman Rachael Scofield went 2-for- 4 and scored a run. Taylor Bencheck went 1-for-1, with two walks and a RBI. Catcher Kylee Pierce went 1-for-4 and scored two runs.

Creek routed Mott 11-1 in the five-inning mercy-ruled game three. Mackey went the distance giving up four hits and fanned seven. Scofield went 2-for-2, scored three runs and was walked once. Mackey went 3-for- 3, scored two runs and drove in a run. Dusseau went 2-for-4 and drove in a run.

Last Thursday, Creek was pinned with two losses against Linden, losing the opener 3-2 and the nightcap 14-4.

In game one, Mackey gave up five hits, two earned runs, and struck out seven.

Right fielder Natalie Oldrham went 2-for-4, scored one run and reached base on an error. Third baseman Sydney Scott went 2-for-2 and was hit by a pitch reaching base all three times she was at-bat. Scofield went 2-for-3, also was hit by a pitch, and got on base three times. Bencheck had one hit and drove in two runs.

In game two, Oldrham gave up nine earned runs, striking out four.

Pierce went 2-for-4 and scored once, Oldham went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs and a centerfielder Lily Majestic went 3-for-4, scoring two runs and stole one base.
