Savannah Lorts, Paula English and Bill Pittsley were part of the volunteer brigade that spent Friday and Saturday re-staining the playscape at Elms Park. Laurel Burns is coordinating the efforts through the United Methodist Church of Swartz Creek as part of the annual “Taking it to Your Streets” program sponsored by the United Methodist Crossroads District of Genesee, Lapeer and Shiawassee counties. Work continues this weekend and volunteers are needed. The project will continue from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, May 19, and Saturday, May 20, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 21. Those planning to participate Saturday should contact Burns at the church because sack lunches will be provided. Area families are advised that part of all of the playscape will be closed while work is taking place.
