Photos by Lania Rocha Forty resolute scholars received diplomas or certificates of completion during the Swartz Creek Academy commencement ceremony Friday, June 9, at the Performing Arts Center. Superintendent Ben Mainka gave the commencement address, during which he shared some of his personal struggles and reminded the graduates that positive choices can change the trajectories of their lives. The ceremony included tributes to the late Lloyd Coon and Dr. William Shaw, two men whose compassion and dedication had enduring effects on many Swartz Creek alum.
