In brief

‘Poppins’ ticket sponsors sought

SWARTZ CREEK – Swartz Creek area residents and business owners can help promote the performing arts and local performers by sponsoring tickets for children and families who would otherwise not be able to attend the upcoming presentation of “Mary Poppins.”

“We did this program in 2013 for ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,’ and worked with the Boys and Girls Clubs,” said Jim Thompson who, with his wife, Katie, cofounded the community theatre group Swartz Creek Center Stage. “About 20 youth had an opportunity to see that show.”

Although Katie Thompson has kept ticket prices at a “very reasonable” $10, some parents may not be able to afford to take the whole family, said Jim Thompson.

Center Stage will present “Mary Poppins” at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4 and 11, and Saturday, Aug. 5 and 12, and 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, at the Performing Arts Center.

For more information on sponsoring tickets, call the box office at 591-5231 or visit the Center Stage Facebook page at https:// www.facebook.com/Swartz-Creek-Center- Stage-150556268438127/. – L.R.
