Driver flees after striking man with walker

MUNDY TOWNSHIP – Metro Police Authority investigators were looking for information about a hit and run that left a man hospitalized.

The 67-year-old Mundy Township man, who uses a walker, was crossing Hill Road in front of Meijer around 11:55 p.m. Saturday, when a black Chevrolet passenger car turning left from the store lot struck him and continued east on Hill Road, according to reports.

Woman assaulted at gas station

SWARTZ CREEK – A Swartz Creek woman suffered injuries in an assault late Saturday.

Police said the victim, 31, was working at the Marathon gas station around 11:35 p.m. when a customer who previously had been banned from the property struck her in the face with a cell phone.

When officers arrived, they found the women fighting in the parking lot.

The assailant, 51, of Swartz Creek, was arrested on a felony charge of assault with a dangerous weapon, plus assault and battery. – L.R.

Intruder steals cigarettes

SWARTZ CREEK – Police were investigating a pair of related break-ins at businesses on the west end of Swartz Creek.

Surveillance cameras at Speedway gas station on Miller and Seymour roads show a man throwing a rock through the glass front door, entering the business and helping himself to two cartons of cigarettes, according to police. The video time stamp showed the break-in occurred just after 3 a.m. Friday.

Detectives said they believe the same man broke into a vehicle behind Fast Eddie’s car wash, adjacent to Speedway. Video from the car wash indicated the man forced his way into the car about 10 minutes before the gas station break-in. The man ransacked the vehicle and damaged the dash board, police said.

The intruder fled east on foot from the gas station. – L.R.
