City gets high marks for finances

SWARTZ CREEK – An audit of the city’s fiscal year 2016-17 records yielded an unmodified opinion, the highest level of assurance, from accountants with Plante-Moran.

In addition to finding that the books are in order, auditor Pam Hill said the city “should feel very good about where it is from a debt perspective.”

City Manager Adam Zettel called the city’s fiscal performance “outstanding” and advised the city council the general fund is “exceeding expectations as it relates to accumulating fund balance and maintaining positive cash flows.” – L.R.
