Daval reconstruction set

SWARTZ CREEK – Daval Drive is on deck for reconstruction and water main replacement in 2018 as part of the city’s 20-year street plan funded by a voter-approved millage.

The city will continue to work with Glaeser Dawes. City Manager Adam Zettel said staying with the same contractor provides price predictability.

“The city may save or lose money, and we may get superior or inferior services at any cost (by bidding the project),” Zettel wrote in his semi-monthly report to elected officials.

In addition, if the city puts the work up for bid, it could not select a contractor until February or March, which would push back the timeline, he said.

The work comes with a $1,086,161 price tag.

Streets that will receive repairs or preventive maintenance next year are yet to be determined. – L.R.
