Davison jumped out to a big lead after three minutes of trading punches, said Creek coach Scott Wright. “Creek tried to make a push in the second but Davison slightly extended their lead by three at the half.

“Creek came out of the gates in the second half a little better cutting the lead to eight only to see Davison go on a big run that saw their largest lead get to 21 with about four minutes to go in the third. Creek started pushing things and fighting back cutting the lead to only four late in the fourth. After a couple costly turnovers, they couldn’t quite overcome the deficit and ended up losing by six.”

Emmanuel Bates had 18 points and nine rebounds and Taquavius “Quay” Humprhies had 22 points and eight boards to lead Creek. Hunter Curtis had six points, Ian Johnson put up seven and Jake Berry had six points and four assists.

“I am proud of our fight,” Scott said after the game. “We were without a couple key players, and we never let that cross our mind. We had a lot of opportunities to lie down, but instead we decided to fight back.”

“With a spark of energy fueled by Hunter Curtis’s taking charges and a boost of energy we almost overcame the hole that we dug ourselves into,” Scott explained. “We grew up tonight. Davison played a solid game, and we showed that we are in that mix right there with them. We are looking forward to getting back to work tomorrow and getting ready for the Tigers on Friday.”

Swartz Creek is at Fenton Friday.
