Food Bank of Eastern Michigan gets acting director

FLINT – Backed by two decades of experience providing healthy, nutritious food for residents and families, Kara Ross will serve as interim president of the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan while the organization undertakes an executive search for a permanent replacement.

The Food Bank’s Board of Directors unanimously selected Ross as interim president following a personal decision by William Kerr to resign Jan. 2. Details about Kerr’s departure were not available.

Kerr had served the Food Bank for 22 years.

Ross most recently served as vice president of partnerships and external affairs.

“Our mission remains focused and steadfast,” said Board President Claude High. “With Kara’s experience and knowledge, we are confident that the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan will continue to nourish the bodies and minds of people throughout Michigan.”

The Food Bank of Eastern Michigan distributes over 25 million pounds of food annually through a network of more than 415 partner agencies in 22 counties.

“For more than two decades, I have dedicated my life to improving food security in our service area,” said Ross.
