Lions Club seeks donations for visually-impaired student

SWARTZ CREEK – The Swartz Creek Lions Club will sponsor a local student for a trip to Germany in June.

Will Roth, who is visually impaired, will be one of about 50 Swartz Creek students who will travel with the German Club from June 20-28, according to Lions Club President Jason Luokka.

Roth was recommended for sponsorship based on his “excellent performance in school and exceptional work ethic, and his unwillingness to let his retina disease keep him from achieving his goals,” Luokka said.

Local Lions will reach out to other area Lions Clubs to help collect the $2,600 Roth still needs to pay for the trip.

Anyone wishing to donate may make checks payable to Swartz Creek Lions Club and include “Will Roth Germany Trip” in the memo line. Donations may be sent to Swartz Creek Lions Club, 6004 Creekside Drive, Swartz Creek, 48473.

The Lions will present the proceeds from the fund drive at their next meeting at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 21 at Dave’s Pizzeria. – L.R.
