SCF stumbles to loss

Photo by Brandon Pope SAGINAW – The Swartz Creek/ Clio/Flushing hockey team was on the road on Monday, taking on the Bay Area Thunder en route to a 9-4 loss. SCF goals were tallied by Kam Houle, Brendan Ogle, Seth Crompton and Cody Harburn.

SCF competed at the Grand Blanc Tournament at the Dort Federal Event Center on Saturday and pulled out a 6-5 shootout victory. Nik Calugaru scored with the help of Harburn and Jake Castles added one, assisted by Dyland Stankewiscz. Calugaru then buried his second of the night with the help of Castles.

Calugaru completed the hat trick, assisted by Castles and Stankewiscz and then added his fifth of the night to tie the game and force overtime. Stankewiscz added a goal in the shootout and Chris Williams netted the shootout winner.

SCF then advanced to the championship game, losing 10-4 to Grand Ledge/Fowlerville.

Crompton got a goal from Stankewiscz and Castles before Ogle buried one with the help of Stankewiscz. Calugaru scored unassisted tallies on SCF’s last two goals.

SCF hosted DeWitt/St. Johns last Wednesday at Iceland Arena, taking a 10-4 loss. Ogle got the first SCF goal with the help of Mitch Carlson and Castles before Stenkewiscz buried one, assisted by Ogle. Castles then added one with the assistance of Stankewicz and Ogle notched his second of the game, assisted by Houle.

SCF was at Waterford United on Wednesday after press deadlines and is at Mid-Michigan Storm on Saturday. – B.P.
