Genesee County Parks Dept. hosts second job fair next week

GENESEE COUNTY – Genesee County Parks is set to host another job fair as they continue their search for hundreds of new team members. In preparation for the upcoming summer season, the organization is looking to hire more than 200 people, many of whom will be able to participate in on-the-spot interviews at the job fair next week. Hosted on Mar. 14 at Berston Field House in Flint, the event will be held from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Next week’s job fair will be the second that Genesee County Parks has hosted this year, with the first being held on Feb. 23 at Crossroads Village. Marketing Assistant Hollie Marlett said last month’s job fair was a huge success, with more than 120 attendees inquiring about the organization’s many job openings.

“We’re looking for a diverse group of people of all ages, whether it’s retirees or college students, people looking for extra income or just a summer job,” said Marlett. “All you need is a valid driver’s license, and you’ll also just need to pass a background check. We’re still looking to fill all kinds of positions for parks like Bluebell Beach, Flint Park Lake Park, Max Brandon Park, McKinley Park and Thread Lake Park, along with many other open positions. We’re also looking for interns, so college students are able to complete that with us for school credit.”

With more than 11,000 acres of parks and trails throughout Genesee County, Marlett says that there are plenty of jobs available in the maintenance department. Interviews will be held at the job fair, but Marlett stresses that applications are accepted throughout the course of the year via email or at any of the Genesee County Parks offices.

“We have positions open all over the county, not just at Crossroads Village,” said Marlett. “And it’s not just available to people that live in Genesee County. If you’re in Birch Run or Frankenmuth, we have several parks near you. Also, people can feel free to apply to multiple positions and see which one best fits them before committing to anything.”

Berston Field house is located 3300 Saginaw St. in Flint. Doors will open at 10 a.m. Can’t make it? You can still apply right now. Visit their website for job descriptions and applications.

With more than 25 different parks, trails, boat launches, fishing sites and activity sites, Genesee County Parks is dedicated to quality recreational opportunities and preservation of natural resources. For more information, visit www.geneseecountyparks.org.
