FAHS to host presentation on former convent house

FLUSHING — The Flushing Area Historical Society (FAHS) will host a presentation on March 20 about the storied legacy behind a former convent of St. Robert’s Catholic Church. The convent was home to many Catholic priests over the years, who resided there and held many committee meetings guiding the growth of the parish. The residence was also home to Catholic nuns who taught at St. Robert’s Catholic School.

Bob Davies, a retired local insurance agent and house mover, will share stories about the house and how it was relocated to the city. Davies has served as president and board member of many organizations, including: Flushing Jaycees, Flushing Community Foundation, City of Flushing Property Tax Review Board, Flint Life Insurance Agents, General Agents and Managers Association, insurance instructor at Mott Community College, Script “A” Region of Model “A” cars and Flushing Area Historical Society.

The program is free and open to the public starting at 7 p.m. The FAHS is located at the Flushing Area Museum on 431 W. Main St. at the railroad tracks. — B.G.
