Jeepers, Creekers!

The inaugural Fall Family Fun Night in Swartz Creek was an overwhelming success. The Swartz Creek Area Chamber of Commerce sponsored the event, and the Swartz Creek Area Firefighters, Downtown Development Authority and Calvary Christian Church pitched in to help provide plenty of fun things to do. Thirty-six businesses, churches or civic groups handed out candy, and many had to make a quick run to area stores for more as the expected crowd of trunk-or-treaters swelled from the anticipated 300 to an estimated 700. Activities included face painting at the Art Gallery, appearances by Pedro the miniature donkey and the Headless Horseman (which many people said, on social media, was their favorite part of the event), movies in the fire station, a bounce house and kids’ games, Sparty Photo Booth, a s’mores bar, and a mountain of straw bales for the kids to climb on. Planning already is underway for next year’s event, which organizers say will be bigger and better.
