Cemetery restoration class

GRAND BLANC TWP. — Jonathan Appell will present a free headstone restoration class from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday, July 11, at Evergreen Cemetery on Hill Road. Free and open to the public.

Topics: proper cleaning, repair, re-leveling and resetting of historic headstones. Appell will discuss preservation, cemetery safety, stone identification, explanation of carvings, and weather and how it affects stones.

Participants should bring chairs, coolers, snacks and lunch. There will be a one-hour lunch break which will provide time for visiting local restaurants. — L.R. Luau

GRAND BLANC TWP. — The Grand Blanc Township Parks and Recreation department and Sweetwater Grill will present the 2nd annual Luau beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, July 15, at Creasey Bicentennial Park.

Catered menu of Huli Huli chicken skewers, steamed buns with barbecue smokehouse pork and pineapple mango salsa, chicken wonton tacos with Asian slaw, sticky honey soy chicken over Hawaiian fried rice, and luau salad with bell peppers, mango and Asian vinaigrette, crispy wontons and sesame seeds. Two bars serving specialty cocktails, beer, seltzers and wine. Lawn games and raffles.

Polynesian Dancers of Michigan perform hula and fire dance shows at 7 p.m. DJ Jen will play dance music. Must be 21 years old or older. Tickets: $40 per person which includes dinner and two drink tickets. — L.R.

40th class reunion

GRAND BLANC TWP. — The Grand Blanc High School class of 1982 will host their 40th reunion on Friday, Aug. 26, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Flint Elks Golf Course and Lodge.

The cost is $25/graduate and $20/guest. Soft drinks and hors d’oeuvres included; cash bar.
